Limb Reconstruction Surgeries

Removal of complete tumours with no remaining disease in limb is milestone of surgery and then reconstruction of defect with various modalities.

a. Mega prosthesis (Artificial implants) around joints can provide normal joint functions.
b. Biological reconstructions by using patients own bone, cadaver bone graft and deep freeze bone from bone bank.
c. ECRT principle- Removal of tumour part of bone from parental bone and reimplantation after high dose radiotherapy at cobalt machine to kill tumour cells from bone.
d. Artificial bone substitute and sclerotherapy - for special indications in benign tumours of long bones, spine and pelvis.
